Stephen Lassman, Facilities Manager Former Late Entry Officer Captain – Army/RAC

Transition can be daunting, and we all have different experiences, after 25 years’ service I felt it was time for a change. The biggest challenge I had was understanding my transferable skills and my own capabilities within the civilian sector, once you self-reflect you will soon realise that we have a lot to offer, from Management skills to work ethic, believe me you have a lot to offer the outside world.
I came across GFSL during a BFRS fair, and they were one of the only companies actively highlighting vacant positions (not just promoting a business), this coupled with the team on the day being Ex service personnel really interested me. All the information delivered by the recruitment team reassured me, they were a forces friendly company.
From one perimeter fence to another, trading MTP for the navy-blue uniform of GFSL. Since joining the GFSL family, I have been welcomed with open arms and fully supported. It didn’t take me long to find lots of similarities between the forces and the operational side GFSL such as the structure of the business, which has allowed me to transition seamlessly.
A career has always been important to me and with GFSL I can clearly see a career path, like the forces there is plenty of opportunities to progress not only in your current field but within others, such as HR, Commercial, Health & Safety, compliance, the list goes on. If like me, you are seeking a career with opportunities, challenges, and progression, GFSL has all of this.
